Hockey night for me was tonight. The Missouri Mavericks are really pretty terrible, but the best thing ever was the kids playing during first intermission. One team's goalie had an Iron Man goalie mask. He was pretty terrible too, but he had the coolest mask EVER!

That article was one of few the past 6 months that I actually read from Whitlock, much less agreed with. But he's absolutely right, you can't rely on perfect strangers to raise your children for you.

I'm also wondering if this is more of a recent phenomenon. When I think back to my childhood hero George Brett, I don't recall ever wanting to live my life like him. I admired his baseball abilities, but baseball was the extent of his existence as far as I was concerned.

Also, girls seem to flock to jerks whether they're good at anything or not. But that's just been my experience.

Your list is rather impressive compared to mine. I'm hoping to go out to LA this summer, so there might be that.

First of all, I hope the surgery goes well tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you.
Second, I knew that minor leaguers didn't make crazy money (over 100k) but I didn't know that it was so disturbingly low. The minimum a person should make on a job of that nature should be around 25-50k per year. At least enough for a modest living.
But I can totally understand why they choose to go for it. If I had even the tiniest bit of talent, I would do the exact same thing.
